What's in Your Way?
After you identify what you want out of life, it is important to then evaluate what's in your way. There will be roadblocks and times of adversity. Thinking through your goals in life and developing systems to achieve will take you to great heights, but everyone falls at some point. Everyone has times when they fail, make mistakes, and falter. The key is to have an understanding of what obstacles lie ahead and potential ways to overcome each obstacle. Brainstorm potential obstacles and create a list of ways to overcome each challenge.
First identify if the obstacle is internal or external. Many obstacles that we thing are caused by some external event or situation, are really just things that we created internally. Understanding this will also help when trying to create systems to achieve your goals so make sure to spend some time evaluating this aspect of a potential obstacle.
What resources do you have that could help? There are numerous resources available, regardless of what the goal is. If you decide to start a business there are numerous organizations whose sole purpose is to provide you with the guidance you need to succeed. If your goal is to lose weight, you can easily get information online or through local exercise facilities.
What are ways you have gotten around this obstacle in the past? If you are worried about finding a babysitter for your children while you exercise, what resources have you relied on in the past you watch your children? Are you able to go to those same people again? Many times we know who we can talk to for assistance and ignore them because we focus too much on the problem and not enough on a potential solution.
Once you have decided what's in your way, determine ways to overcome these obstacles. Things will come up that can detract you from the system you develop to accomplish your goals. The better prepared you are when they surface, the more likely you will be able to persist and move towards success!
