Finding calm
Scott Miker
As we go through life, it's easy to feel like we're constantly being pulled in different directions. The demands of work, family, and society can all leave us feeling overwhelmed and stressed out. But there's a way to break free from this cycle and find a sense of calmness and peace within ourselves.
The first step is to let go of the idea that we need to control everything. We can't always control what happens around us, but we can control how we respond to it. By focusing on what we can control, and letting go of what we can't, we free ourselves from unnecessary stress and anxiety.
Another key to feeling calm is to make time for ourselves. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life, but it's important to take a step back and recharge our batteries. This could mean taking a walk in nature, practicing yoga, or simply spending time alone with a good book.
One of the most powerful tools for finding inner calmness is meditation. Through the practice of meditation, we learn to quiet our minds and connect with our inner selves. This can help us to let go of negative thoughts and emotions and focus on the present moment.
Gratitude is also an important factor in feeling calm. By focusing on what we have, rather than what we lack, we can cultivate a sense of contentment and peace within ourselves. This could mean keeping a gratitude journal, or simply taking a few minutes each day to reflect on the things we're thankful for.
Finally, it's important to surround ourselves with positive influences. This could mean spending time with supportive friends and family or seeking out inspirational books and podcasts. By filling our lives with positivity, we can create a peaceful and harmonious environment that helps us to feel calm and centered.
Finding calmness in our lives is an ongoing journey that requires effort and dedication. But by letting go of what we can't control, making time for ourselves, practicing meditation, cultivating gratitude, and surrounding ourselves with positivity, we can find a sense of peace and tranquility within ourselves. Remember, calmness is not a destination, but a state of being that we can cultivate and nurture over time.
